Social Networking For The Insurance Industry
October 7, 2009
Insurance Social Networking is a great tool for all insurance agents and anybody in the insurance industry. Most Insurance professionals do not have time to manage a good social network online or even have time to market themselves. It takes 30 to 40 hours a weeks to market yourself online. Do you have that time? Didn’t think so. Well if your not doing this your missing out on tons of sales and traffic to your website. Are you the on who spent $5000 on your website and it’s just sitting there. Well don’t feel like a dummy, lots of people do just that. Let me give you some tips to help make it better for you.
First off you better have a blog on your website. You need to post good article on good topics that people want to ready.
second you need to have a forum on your website. Let people carry a conversation about the insurance industry.
Third, Join ping.fm and onlywire. Just visit the sites you will understand why these sites will triple your website traffic.
Fourth, Join twitsurance, it’s like twitter, but just for insurance professionals.
Fifth, You should have a twitter, Facebook, Linkedin account, Don’t worry about a myspace account most people do not get traffic from Myspace anymore, I don’t even use my page anymore. Facebook is easier to get a traffic base.
Sixth, You need a merchantcircle account, it’s free and easy to use and this is good google juice to help that page rank.
Seventh, make a Squidoo Lense, blog about your agency, Great Google juice.
Eighth, Have a website, and not a free one. Spend a few bucks to buy a domain name at Godaddy and have someone build you a site. Try Agent Builder Insurance Marketing. They charge $250 a year. They build it and up keep it. a NO BRAINER.
Ninth, Professional Courtesy goes a long way. Example, if you say your going to call someone. DO IT! Insurance agents are prone to do this. Trust me when I say this. if an agent does not return my call. Their Toast.
Tenth, if your going to spam, spam right. If you get some dweeb who calls you a spammer ignore them, and do not play the game of a pissing match.
Eleventh, post your link to directories and web directories. Great Google juice. It’s all about the Google page rank. it starts at 0 and ends at 10. shoot for ten. if you have 0, your lazy.
Twelth, referrals need to be top priority. Dont be affraid to ask. You will be sorry if you dont.
These are just some of the things you can do to help get more sales. I see more and more agents not taking advantage of the internet.More than 60% of people get online to find an agent. Wow thats lots of potential sales. I hear more and more that I work on word of mout, I have been in sales for 20 years. That means your scraping by and dont have the desire to be more successful. I always like it when an agent says I dont need more business. Liars.

California State Medical Insurance — Guides For Reasonable Rates
October 2, 2009
With the right tips you’ll get more inexpensive rates for adequate California health insurance coverage. It is equally important that I stress that there are recommendations that might put you at risk even if they help you make savings for now. If you are interested in advice that you can use to save much and at the same time maintain sufficient coverage, read the following…
1. Even though many individuals are aware that smoking adds to their rates, they may not know that this also applies if they use other tobacco products. For example, you will attract a higher rate if you chew or snuff tobacco.
Therefore, for your health and lower rates, stop using any tobacco product.
2. You’ll pay less for a group plan than otherwise. Don’t miss it if you’re in a position that gives you the option to use a group
plan as it typically implies that you’ll pay lower rates. The higher a risk your profile is, the more you’ll save if you can get health insurance through a group plan.
A group plan will help you make considerable profits if you have a medical condition that makes individual California medical insurance either too costly or almost impossible to come by. Consider a group plan if you really want cheaper premium.
3. You’ll pay less in California Medical Insurance if you have more knowledge on it. You’ll be able to make choices that will result in the best. Furthermore, you’ll also be better positioned to take advantage of opportunities as they come.
The U.S has many toll free numbers where you can be helped on health related matters. One of such numbers is that of the National Health
Information Center: 1-800-336-4797
4. Buying your prescriptions online is a sure way to lessen your health care costs. Buying by telephone will also give you reasonable prices.
Insurance Companies who sell online have lower outlays than brick and mortar businesses and these means that they can and (do sell) at lesser prices. But if you choose to buy online do all within your power to find out a little about whom you’re buying from because there are
wolves online. It is very easy to do this by making use of a resource like BBB. This is quite very important as you don’t want to risk your life all in the name of making profits.
5. An easy but effective way of lowering your premium is by authorizing an EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer). This just means your insurer takes your premiums automatically from your account each month without mailing you payment notices. This saves costs by removing the need for payment notices or checks. This is why this results in lower premium.
The right decision to take now is to get quotes, compare plans from Insurance Companies and save massively without any obligation.

Paying Much Less For Your Health Insurance – These Are Tips You Should Know…
September 13, 2009
Have you ever wondered why you have to pay so much for your medical insurance? Do you want to save more on your health insurance? These are a number of tips you must know if you want to really slash your health insurance rates.
Smoking cigarettes is the most suspected cause of lung cancer as well as other medically related issues. They thus make you pay higher health insurance premiums than those who don’t smoke. This is because of their health risks and insurance companies have to pay more to smokers.
If you stop smoking for about a year or so you should inform your insurance company for a review of your insurance coverage. You might as well apply to another insurance company.
Your weight is a critical factor which you might want to consider if you must have lower health insurance rates. In calculating your health risks to an insurer your Body Mass Index is one of the parameters used. Your BMI measures your weight to your height and this is used in determining if you are underweight, overweight or obese. It is different for males and females.
If you are over-weight i.e you have a high BMI) you will attract a higher health insurance rate. Therefore loosing a few pounds will not only attract lower rates, but also it will make you live a more healthy life.

Smoking attracts an expensive medical insurance rates. Same goes for the usage of other forms of tobacco products such as snuff. This is due to the health risks you pose to your insurance company.
So, staying off all kinds of tobacco products will make you pay less for your health insurance.
Having a poor driving history can make you pay heavily for your health insurance. Traffic violations, driving under the influence of alcohol as well as other forms of traffic violations will see you pay higher premiums for your health insurance because you pose a greater risk to your insurer.
Affordable health insurance:
Also if you own and drive a sports car or ride a power bike you will pay more for your medical insurance. This is because you have a higher probability of having accidents. Being more responsible behind the wheels is one way to lower your health insurance rates.

Individual Health Insurance Plans
September 5, 2009
You may have noticed more advertising of health insurance coverage in the last year or so. Given the current economic environment, many individuals and families are choosing to secure health insurance coverage outside of a group plan. For some, this may be due to being self-employed. For others, it may be less expensive than the plan offered by their employer. For what ever the reason, more and more people are seeking individual health plans as offered by many insurance carriers.
Because many employers have to scale back on expenses, they are changing the benefits being offered to employees. In many instances, it equates to more money being withheld at each pay period. In order to make the health plan less costly to the company, they are altering current group health plans or altering the amount of company contribution. The result is a higher cost for the employee. It may be in the form of a higher premium, higher copays or coinsurance, or higher deductibles. Certain coverage, such as for dental care, may be reduced or eliminated. This leaves the worker with a decision to make.
For some employees, they opt to continue with the coverage being offered by their employer. Those with families are doing more research into health insurance coverage as it would be too expensive to continue with the changed employer plan. There are many individual plans available through well known carriers, and some that are not as familiar. However, it is not impossible to find an individual health insurance plan to fit the needs of your family.
Prior to starting your research, sit down and determine exactly what coverage you need. Do you need it just for yourself? Are you a single parent and just need coverage for yourself and a child? What type of health care expenses do you currently have and anticipate in the near future? How much can you afford to pay (premium, copay, coinsurance, and deductible)? Doing this helps to narrow your choices.
Once you start reviewing health plans, make sure that you understand the terminology. Do not be afraid to contact the company offering the plan and ask questions. Also, you want to find out if certain services are part of the plan, available as a rider, or even available at all through that carrier and don’t forget to ask about dental, vision or life insurance coverage.
If you are self-employed, never had health insurance or recently laid off you cannot afford to not have major medical insurance. Why? Because today’s leading cause for financial ruin and filing for bankruptcy is the inability to pay medical bills. By purchasing a major medical policy you are able to implement a cap on your out of pocket expenses, and have the support of a large organization to subsidize the majority of your medical expenses. To give you an idea of what a burden medical bills and can be, a 3 day stay in a hospital can run upwards of $28,000.
So the question is where are you able to find quality health insurance coverage if you are ineligible for an employer sponsored plan? Today, the web is a valuable resource for finding affordable health insurance options in your area. However, when you begin looking for a plan it is important to shop around for all options. Do not limit yourself to going to a single carrier’s website as it is very likely they may not have the most competitive rate in your area. It is best to use some sort of exchange or quote engine to observe all possible options in your area. This is one of the benefits of using MyInsuranceExpert.com to find health insurance. We function as an exchange, and have no vested interest in one company; hence, we are always looking for the plan that best fits your personal needs.
In addition, when trying to find health insurance, make sure that you are signing up for “real” insurance and not a discount program. Discount health insurance policies are dangerous because they do not cap your out of pocket exposure; i.e., you could be paying 50% of a million dollars in medical claims. A dead giveaway for discount programs is membership fees before signing up. Any real insurance carrier will not make you pay a membership fee in order to qualify for their plan. Also, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

Being Uninsured Put’s Your Family Is At Risk
July 2, 2009
As a parent you want to do the very best for your family. You work long hours to provide the best home, food and other amenities of life that you can afford. Hopefully, you have employer sponsored health insurance, but that is not always the case, nor it is guaranteed. Company downsizing, restructuring, or business failure can spell loss of health insurance for your family, and often times, those same situations can equal an inability to afford private health care as well.
The number of uninsured people in this country is growing in leaps and bounds.
Skyrocketing health care insurance costs are keeping many employers from offering it as a benefit, and private insurance can be even further out of reach for many struggling families. A recent study showed that 15% of employees were not even offered insurance at their place of employment, and that of the remaining number that were offered, up to 52% of them did not take the offered insurance because of cost.
Nearly one third of the population, or 90%, 65 years old or younger, spent at least a portion of 2006 without any form of health insurance at all. It is not just the poor, or the working poor that suffer without insurance however. Nearly 40% of the uninsured are from households that earn $50,000 or more per year. Realistically, if these people cannot afford adequate health insurance for their families, how can we expect a family pulling in half that or less to manage?
Of course, our children come in contact with more communicable diseases by their very nature, and they are more likely to be injured during play, but the number of uninsured children keeps growing every year.
Some children will qualify for Well-child, or similar state sponsored health care plans, but limited funding and impending budget cuts puts those programs at risk for termination. The number of children without insurance is well over eight million, and only increasing as the economy falters.
Without insurance, health concerns go untreated until they become a majorissue. Most uninsured people admit that they rely on local emergency rooms for so called “routine” care, making hospital charges increase, which in turn increases insurance premiums. This increased premium will then force yet another family to drop their insurance coverage and the vicious cycle goes round again.
Care in the emergency room costs more than in wellness clinics and doctors offices, but those places are more and more frequently asking for fees to be paid upfront.
If that money is not available, then the visit will be put off until it actually does become an emergency. An uninsured person is 30-50% more likely to be hospitalized for an avoidable condition, and the cost of that stay will be in the neighborhood of $3300. Maintaining your health and the health of your family is important, but if you truly cannot afford insurance, what can you do? Not all families will have employer insurance offered to them, and those that do have the offer, cannot afford their portion of the premium. Many of the so called “working poor” do not qualify for state sponsored health care, even for their children only, so what is the answer?

America’s Losing Battle With Health Insurance
June 29, 2009
The Struggle for Quality Health Insurance in America
The politicians for the 2008 Election Campaign all struggle to spin health insurance as one of their platforms, while the media plays it up or down, depending on their point of view. While there are many existing ideologies regarding health care, the fact remains that the struggle for affordable health insurance in America real, and is getting worse every year.
One of the biggest misconceptions about health care is that the people without insurance are illegal immigrants, or are unemployed. This is not the case.
According to the National Health Care Coalition, nearly 80 percent of the uninsured in America are either Native American, or naturalized citizens, and of those, 8 out of 10 come from working class families. During 2006, over 90 percent of the population, which is nearly five million people, were without any kind of health insurance for at least part of the year.
America is a world leader, so how can nothing be done to guarantee health care to our working families? If you work enough to barely get by, then you usually make too much to qualify for state sponsored Medicaid. Staying at home and drawing welfare so that you can have health insurance makes little sense to most people, and budget cuts at the state level is making that prospect harder as well.
Young adults, (aged 18-24) probably do not give health care a second thought, as they are the population group most likely to be without any coverage. Surprisingly, families that earn over $50,000 per year are also not likely to have insurance, even when it is offered by their employer, because they just cannot afford the hefty premiums. If a family earning that kind of money cannot afford health insurance, how on earth could a family who earning half of that or less be expected to buy health insurance?
Being uninsured means that serious illnesses may go undiagnosed or untreated until it is too late. Even something as simple as the flu may cause complications and even death if left untreated, a common worry for those who cannot afford health care.
Many medical clinics ask that the uninsured pay their fees upfront to avoid the risk of unpaid bills piling up. Those who are unable to pay upfront must then live in sickness and agony, not getting time off work or any other kind of compensation. Most parents will not choose their own health care over putting food in their children’s mouths, and that is often what the choice comes down to. Do they take the money to go to the doctor, or do they go to the grocery store?
We all know what the answer will be.
An uninsured person is more likely to end up hospitalized for an avoidable condition, with the cost of that stay being around $3000. If that person had been seeing a doctor, such a condition could be caught, treated, or maintained. Hospitals treat patients without insurance to the tune of nearly $34million dollars every year, without compensation. That cost is added back to the general public by higher hospital bills, which then increases insurance rates, and you guessed it, forces more people to go without.
Affordable health insurance in America is not something we need to talk about during election years. It is something we all need to focus on and fix now, realistically and fairly. Health insurance should not be a luxury, or an option for a select few. It should be mandatory and it should be affordable for all.

Pros And Cons Of Getting Small Business Health Insurance
May 27, 2009
Are you a small business owner? If you are, how many employees do you currently have? If you have under fifty or one hundred employees, in total, you can often legally be considered a small business. Although you may have already deemed yourself a small business, the actual definition is important, as it will have an impact on your taxes, as well as your ability to get health insurance. If you are a small business owner, there is a good chance that you need to buy your own health insurance, if you don’t already have insurance. When doing so, you are advised to also look into getting small business health insurance for your other small business employees.
When it comes to getting small business health insurance for themselves and their employees, there are many small business owners who wonder why they should even bother. In all honesty, it depends. First, it depends on the type of business owner that you would like to be known as. Secondly, it depends on the area that you live in or operate a business in. There are some areas that do not give employers the option to offer insurance to their employees, as it is required by law. So, before you start contemplating whether or not you even want to purchase small business health insurance for you and your employees, you need to see if you have to or not.
Although you may be faced with some rules and restrictions, you will likely find that you have the option to provide small business health insurance to your employees only if you want to. For that reason, you may want to think about examining the pros and cons of doing so. You may want to think about making your employees pay half of their insurance costs or so. You will, however, want to make sure that it is an amount that you and your employees all agree. A Day At Chiropractors Office
April 10, 2009
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to go to the chiropractor? winter of 2004 I found out.
Back in 1986 I had a very bad car crash. In theaccident I broke my back and my neck. It was really bad however, I recovered somewhat and got mobile.
I was able to resume most of the activities I did before the crash, well at least until the year 2001.
I can’t explain why, for some undiscovered reason I had a retrogression and had to undergo lower back surgery.
All went well. except I had lost 30% flexibility in my neck and back. I was going through physical therapy but it was not really helping very much. So my Doctor told me suggested that I go to a Chiropractor’s. My doctor didn’t call them chiropractor though; he called them bone and joint manipulators. The Dr. had his secretary set up the chiropractic meeting for me.
A few weeks later I found myself in the lobby of a nice clean Chiropractor’s office. This was my first time and I didn’t know what to expect. I was apprehensive about the whole ordeal.
I was in chronic pain and I really didn’t want anybody bending and folding me in any way shape or form. So as you can image how cranky I was when I went to the receptionist’s window. “Can I help you”, the slender blond haired older women from behind the glassqueried in a pleasant and friendly voice.
I was really trying not to sound crabby as I shouted out, yes I’m here to see the Dr.; I mean bone and joint manipulator. She smiled and ask me to fill out a few insurance form, then said told me to please have a seat.
It seemed like an hour or two but finally a nurse came out and called me. I was half way into a nod by that time and I didn’t’ hear her the first time. After a moment the nurse announced my name. I woke up and answered, “I’m here”. Follow me please she said as she turned and headed toward the examining rooms in the back of the clinic. I go up and followed her to a small room that had a small medical table in the center and a few doctor looking things on a small table on the right side. Please sit down and the Dr. will be with you in a minute the nurse told me then she went away.
Ten minutes later the chiropractor came in. “Hello, I’m Dr. Sheppered” he introduced. “Your records show that your having a bit of a lower back problem.” Before I could say a word he told me to lie down on my stomach on the table. I did, and without saying a word he started to pull bend and twist me into positions I didn’t even know I could get into.
All in all I was there about thirty minutes, although it felt like forever I really didn’t’ feel any better, as a matter of a fact I felt worse. However,I was back there in two weeks ready and willing to go through the torture again.
This visit to the chiropractor was the same as the last. Again I didn’t feel any better. I didn’t feel any better.
The next time I visited the chiropractor told me that if I was not getting better by then that I probably was not going to. I was amazed with his truthfulness. Anyone else would have just kept making appointments and receiving that insurance money. Even though I didn’t benefit from my visits to a chiropractor please don’t think you won’t. I would advise that you see a Dr. if you have incapacitating pain and if he refers you to a chiropractor, go. Chiropractors know what they are doing and can help you. you.

Health Insurance for Nadya Suleman with 14 kids?
February 11, 2009
So you probably have read, heard or wathced the story about Nadya Suleman a Californian who had octuplets (which is 8 kids if you didn’t know). I got to thinking about the massive amount of cost it will be for her to have health care for these kids.
The unique thing about health insurance this that at some point adding kids to your policy is free and if Nadya does have health insurance I’m sure her company is trying to figure a way not to cover her.
The society response from this story has gone quickly from amazement to how can you be irresponsible. Can you imagine how much tax dollars will now most likely be spent on her and her family? Another question is whose fault is it really? Did her doctor fertilize too many eggs?
It also brings up the question of should their be a limit to how many children you can have in one family? My dad had 7 in his family.
WWHID (What Would Health Insurance Do?)
Can you imagine her trying to get private health insurance? I think the health insurance carriers would be frantically looking for a way to decline her or raise her premiums to unbearable. There would have to be some type of special form to fill out with 14 dependents.
The story is interesting and makes me wonder how a private health insurance carrier would handle her application. Does anyone have any thoughts?
